Canada's Caribbean and Mexican Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program is designed to supplement the labour market in agricultural regions, such as British Columbia, where there is often a labour market shortage during peak periods.

Employers in British Columbia who participate in the program are obligated to supply their Caribbean and Mexican temporary agricultural workers with the following:
- Free accommodation that is on par with local housing standards
- All or some of their airfare to and from Canada
- A wage or salary equal to what a Canadian citizen or permanent resident would get for doing the same job
- Fair and equal treatment on par with the way other farm labourers are treated
Canada's Caribbean and Mexican Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program â€" How to Apply
British Columbia employers who wish to participate in the program must advise their nearest Canada Service Center at least 8 weeks prior to when they want their seasonal agricultural workers to arrive. They must also establish their need for temporary foreign workers. Once an application is made, the Service Canada staff will assess the need and then make a decision. Application forms and other information may be found on Service Canada's web site.
Canada's Caribbean and Mexican Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program â€" Limitations
The program specifies that employers must employ their temporary foreign agricultural workers for no less than 240 hours over a six-week period and for no more than eight months in a calendar year, specifically within peak periods.
