The Immigrant Nomination Program (AINP)

To help meet its growing labour market needs, Alberta has established the Alberta Immigrant Nomination Program (AINP). It is designed for individuals who can establish themselves economically and provide a significant economic benefit to the province. Acceptance is based on Alberta's current labour market needs as well as whether or not officials are convinced your intention is to actually settle in the province. Once nominated, you and your family will be given priority status when applying for a permanent resident visa from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

The Alberta Immigrant Nomination Program (AINP) - How to Apply

The application process for the AINP differs according to the occupational stream and category under which you are applying.

  • Do you want to start a farming business in Alberta? Then apply through the Self-Employed Farmer Stream.
  • Do you have any relatives in Alberta who might want to sponsor you? Then consider the Family Stream.
  • Do you have a permanent, full-time job offer from an employer in Alberta in one of the following industries-food and beverage processing, hotel and lodging, manufacturing, long-haul trucking or food services? Are you working for that employer right now? Then apply through the Employer Driven Stream under the "Semi-skilled worker" category.
  • Have you recently graduated from a Canadian college, university or technical school and received a job offer in your field from an Alberta employer? Then apply under the Employer Driven Stream under the "International Graduate Program."
  • Do you work in a skilled occupation? Has an employer in Alberta offered you a permanent, full-time job in that occupation? Then apply through the Employer Driven Stream under the "Skilled Worker" category.
