British Columbia's Provincial Nominee Program
If you're a skilled worker or an experienced entrepreneur who would like to settle in British Columbia (BC) as a permanent resident of Canada, you may want to apply to British Columbia's Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), which helps to fast track the immigration process.
BC PNP - How It Works
BC is looking primarily for individuals who have the ability to establish themselves economically in BC and provide a significant economic benefit to the province. Acceptance is based on BC's labour market needs as well as whether or not officials are convinced your intention is to actually settle in the province. Once nominated, you and your family will be given priority when you apply for a permanent resident visa from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
BC PNP - How to Apply
The first thing you should do is find out what your job is called in Canada. Citizenship and Immigration Canada's (CIC) web site has a tool called Working in Canada to help you do this. It will also help you see what wages and job opportunities are like for your occupation in BC.
Once you're certain that BC is the place for you, you need to seek a nomination. CIC's web site details the process for how you can do this. After receiving your certificate of nomination, you need to fill out an application form, pay the appropriate fee and then wait to see if further information is required.
