Business Visitors Applying to Canada
If you're businessperson who plans to visit Canada temporarily to seek new business opportunities, invest in Canadian companies or seek to advance existing business relationships, you may qualify as a business visitor to the country. If you qualify, you will not need to apply for a work permit. You will be admitted to the country just like any other visitor without the need to fill out a separate application form.
Business Visitors - Do You Qualify?
As a business visitor, you will typically stay in Canada for no more than a few days or a few weeks. To qualify as a business visitor, you are also required to demonstrate the following:
- You have no plans to enter the Canadian labour market, and you have no intentions of staying more than six months
- Your primary source of income and place of business is located in a country other than Canada and the profits from your business accrue outside of Canada
Business Visitors - Other Requirements
In addition to the above, you must also provide documents that support all of the claims that you make in your application. And, like all visitors to Canada, you must also meet Canada's basic entry requirements. First of all, you must have a valid passport or other travel document. You must also be able to prove that you have enough money to cover your stay and your return home. Third, you must demonstrate-through a travel itinerary or airplane ticket-that you plan to leave Canada at the end of your visit. Finally, you must be able to prove that you do not pose any sort of risk to Canadians, including risks to their security or health.
