Business Visitors from China to Canada

If you're a Chinese businessperson and you wish to make a temporary visit to Canada, you must obtain a temporary resident visa (TRV). Please note that this is different from coming to Canada to work. Here are some guidelines to help you determine if you qualify.

Chinese Business Visitors - A Definition

You qualify as a business visitor from China if you are coming to Canada to:

  • Meet with representatives from companies that do business in China
  • Visit business sites
  • Attend business meetings
  • Receive product and/or sales training

Chinese Business Visitors - Where to Apply

If you wish to travel to Canada as business visitor from China, you may apply for a temporary resident visa by mail or in person at the Canadian consulate offices in Beijing, Hong Kong or Shanghai.

Business Visitors from China - Required Documents

When applying to be accepted as a business visitor from China, you will need to include the following documents with your visa application:

  • A valid passport
  • Four passport-sized photos
  • Two application forms per person
  • A letter of invitation from your business host in Canada
  • A letter of approval from your employer in China
  • A family composition/education form

Please note that additional documents may be required to determine eligibility.

Processing times vary according to the visa office to which you apply. The wait time can be as little as a few days or as long as a few weeks. Please check with your local visa office to find out how long it will take.
