Temporary Resident Visa - What Is It?
One of the documents you may need to enter Canada is a temporary resident visa. These are issued by visa offices overseas. Once approved, the visa is place in your passport to indicate that you have been approved to enter Canada as a temporary resident. - Request a temporary resident visa application kit from your nearest Canadian consulate or visa office or download it for free from CIC's web site.
- Read the temporary resident visa application guide carefully, and then fill out your application form, making sure to include all of the necessary documentation and the necessary fees. Single-entry temporary resident visas are $75, multiple-entry are $150 and visas for an entire family are $400. (For families, single- and multiple-entry temporary resident visas are the same price.)
- You may also need to do an interview with a Canadian visa officer and/or undergo a medical examination. The visa officer who is handling your case will instruct you on whether or not this is necessary.
